Adult Helpers

Examples how you can help are:
Come along on a Friday night and assist the leaders in running activities, drive some scouts to camp, Pass on a skill that you have. For instance gardening, car mechanics, decorating, HAM Radio, cooking, wood work, art and crafts, sports (all kinds) in fact the list is endless and only limited by your imagination.

But I can not commit every week
Thats fine, just do as little as much as you like.

But what's in it for me?
Everything and nothing. Satisfaction that your doing your bit. Enjoyment to see youngsters grow into adults in a secure and structured environment. Contrbuting to our our community's young who are in scouting because you are are making it fun and challenging. Putting something back in after you enjoying your scouting days as a child.

But what about child protection?
Child safety comes first and we will need to be check you with the Criminals Records Bureau. This is not as bad as it sounds - it is just a check that you are, you who you say you are and that you do not have a criminal record that affects looking after children. If you have any queries you can speak in cofidence to Dot.

Do I get paid?
Adult Leaders are volunteers and do not get paid as such. We usually get the satisfaction of helping young people that are trying to help themselves. Remember that if you do not help then who will?

However, if you incure an expense related to scouting and it has been agreed in advance with the Group Scout Leader (Dot) then it may be paid. The best example of this is Petrol to drive some young people to camp. BUT YOU MUST GET THIS AUTHORISED BEFORE YOU INCURE THE EXPENSE.
